I have two sets of Energizer NMH and two chargers, 8hr Energizer and 8 hr Rayovac. One set of batteries seems to have a better charge (car runs noticibly faster). I have yet to test it with a volt meter but I will do that tonight. I have charged each set on different chargers and the same result exists. Seems to be battery related. The only difference between the two battery sets is the silver wrapping. The set that runs better has the dull silver finish and the other set has the shiney silver finish. Anyone else with the same observations?
After performing some tests with a Volt meter, my observations turned out to be true. The Japan made batteries are better. Under load they averaged about .5 volt higher. Unloaded they are the same as the China batteries.
I went looking for some more at Wal-Mart and found only four packs left on the very back of the peg behind the China made ones. An easy way to spot them is the packaging does not have the easy open plastic container. Instead, they are packed the in old blister pack on cardboard.
If you find these, you will not be dissappointed. They sell for just under $10.00.
Strange enough the AA's are still made in Japan and even come in the easy open package.
