if you got the AWD you need the Ball bearings too or else there is too much friction in the drive train

Depends on if you are talking about top end speed or fastest lap times.....

I have an RSX that I quickly upgraded to AWD. I noticed a slight decrease in top speed but a good pickup in handeling and cornering speed. I think it looked slower than it was because there was little or no drift in the corners and you could not power steer the back very easy.

I then added a stage 2 motor - tried the drag and the drift. Took off the AWD for all out speed and now it takes a good 20 feet before the back tires stop spinning. And the wheel slip is hard to control in corners now. I think a stage 1 on 2wd would be faster on a short road course than a stage 2 AWD because it is easier to manage the power.

For all out straight line speed the 2wd will be best, but if you are on a typical track, I would bet the AWD will produce quicker lap times.

So my opinion is that they all have a place depending on the race (I'm a poet!). 2wd stage 2 for long strights, AWD stage 2 for the twisties.
