As far as batteries go, I think just about any kind will work fine, I suggest a set of Energizer rechargables, they've never done me wrong. Just anything but plain old Alkaline batteries should work out just fine for you. If you want to be really set, get a set of Energizers and their charger, because their charging base will handle both AAA's and 9V's (not at the same time though..I'm sure you knew that.) That way you wont have to worry about either power sources for quite some time.

batteries do make a difference in the performance of the car. any rechargeable batteries are the best. the best ones we have found are the rayovak rechargables. they have 800mAh's which produces a lil bit more power and lasts longer than the xmods rechargables(which are 700mAh). ive always been an energizer fan so i have them which are 750mAh. we have tested all three with the same mods and on different surfaces fully charged.

Thats a good question, I don't remember. If this helps..I got the recharger (which was about 10 dollars plus tax), and two sets of AAA's, it cost about 30 dollars overall I think, and I got it all from Target. So I hope thats helpful..

The radio shack set is a great deal. You get 8 Ni-MH batteries and a delta peak charger for $25. Just 4 batteries from Radio Shack are $19.99. The set is like getting the charger for $5 and 4 batteries for free.

If you have a Fry's in the area, you all might want to check out the NoMemPro NiMH's. I got 4 AA's (not AAA's) for about $5.00. I'm gonna check on the price of AAA's there soon.
To charge them, I just use either the Rayovac 1hr charger that I have or my MRC Super Brain 959.
