MicroRCEngineering -- that's a nice chunk of change. Way too steep for me at the moment.
Question though: You ran that car (I've seen the video) on a street. Mini-Z's don't run very well on asphalt, but do DTMs out of the box run okay on road surfaces? That's one question I forgot to ask.
Maybe if this sale hangs around for awhile, I can save enough... a long while...

I appreciate your interest, Thunderer. Regarding your question: ABC's run perfect on smooth asphalt, just like the one on the video. Not adviseable for asphalt that are shiny, or slippery even when dry. Hawaii, I beleive has a lot of smooth black asphalt. Should be perfect. I did modify a mini Z before, and it ran perfect on asphalt.
My explanation for the price: It's one of a kind. Car comes with everything, less radio, charger. Shelbys, Ferraris, and other custom cars don't come cheap, and they have a valid reason. Those cars are not the typical cars you see on the street. Same for my Micro. It's not your typical 1/24th RC that one may race in his garage. It's meant for pure top fuel, record setting, beyond Tiny RC speed. 56 - 59 mph. Mercedes, Mustangs, and other cars have tried to run me over with no luck. It's a shame to see real cars get left behind by a Tiny RC a little longer than a $1.00 bill.
Also, technically speaking, it is a piece of RC history. You don't see HPI, Traxxas, AE, Tamiya, Kyosho, Radio Shack, Tyco, and some other papa company making these. (watch them copy, after this statement.)
I don't mean to sound I'm bragging, but believe me when I say that this car will set a different standard in the future.

Rod,
I back you on that statement!
One of a kind machines cost money.
The premium is minimal as to do the R&D yourself would cost so much time, money and effort, the costs would exceed the price.

Mondo,
It's funny because I just found a way to increase the speed of my ABC. I'm approximating 15 - 20% extra power. Honestly, I'm just too burnt out of RC's. The SP lot that I won on eBay are still in their respective boxes. I'm just not up to modify and tweak right now. I haven't even touched any of the cars, and as a matter of fact, I'm letting one go, and it's on eBay right now.

I'll be around. Post some pics of your car when completed. I'd like to see it.

Hey there,
I am dying to see the video of that 56mph Car.....could someone please do me a huge favour and post the link for me!!!
hey Engineer could you post some pics of your special SP? I would love to see what a modified one looks like!!
How much work does it really take to get one of these things up to 56mph? I am sure you have to tweak stuff....but ultimately you can only do so much to it and still call it an ABC DTM SP....and since they are fairly simple....
Anyhow thanks for the reply.
MUST SEE VIDEO!!!

BTW did you take HPI up on their offer to test your car at Their Facility?
And if you don't mind me asking which motor did you use? since those slot car motors run at 14 volts you obviously did some impressive work to get the car running.....nice work man....very impressed....and I think my reaction above says it all!!!!

I just found out through Draconious that the radar used for my video is cheap and is inaccurate. So, I will definitely go down to HPI. I already spoke to Kent Clausen a few months back, so the offer remains open, I hope. It's a far drive, and it's in the day time, so it's hard to coordinate things. But sooner or later, I'll go through with this. I never make statements that are not true anyway, unlike other people.
