Steering Coils

i'm doing a dual cell mod and i had a bit with very 4 short wires from the steering coil. i cut them and when i added a strand of wire to lengthen each of them they do not work as they should.
i know that one strand from each side are soldered to the positve on the pcb. i also figured that the strand connected to the 'L' should come from the passenger side and the 'R' from the drivers' side (reversed). what i'd like to know is does it matter which strand from each side i use? when i did it i could only turn the wheels one way using either left or right controls on the controller? now the right won't work either way i try it...

any ideas?

I have heard that even too much solder may cause the steerin to stop working....

something is wrong here

just moved bit board to zip body and now steering only works in 1 direction. I press left and it steers left, I press right and the magnet still goes to the left. I have no idea what it is. I tried 2 diff bit boards. Im thinking its something to do with the coils. Can I fix this?

it MOST CERTAINLY does make a difference! As I figured out the other night after accidentally pulling the coil wires off the PCB and having to resolder them back on.

If you look CLOSELY at the coil wires, you'll notice that each pair (left pair and right pair) has a wire with some white coating on it...You HAVE TO MAKE SURE that the wires with the white coating are going to the power, then you connect the others to the L and R.

Sorry I havent posted here soon after I figured out the problem. The problem was that I had the wires soldered wrong. Once I took a look and seperated the L from the R and soldered them accordingly, the steering worked. Seems like I had the power wires soldered to the L or R. Anyway, they were mixed up some how. Its all good now except one direction has a little delay when I try to steer than the other. Oh well, it cant be perfect I guess, unless someone knows what the problem could be.

OK, vision this-

With a steering coil, it has two ends, end A and end B.

If you connect end A to the LEFT steering terminal,

and end B to the Positive on the pcb, when u press the LEFT button on the controller, say for example it goes RIGHT,

then all you need to do is put END B to THE LEFT steering terminal, AND END A to the POSITIVE.

the way you connect a coil to a power source determines the polarity, ie the way in which the steering goes in this case.
