XMod Drifting/Sliding/Spinning out
Okay, before I go into detail keep in mind that my basement floor is:
-50% linolium
-47% dust
-3% bugs/spiders/etc.
My course is running circles around two support poles (metal), I go about half to three/fourths throttle down the sraightaway, then hit the throttle near the turn to kick the back end out when I reach the the pole. Lets hear your drifting set-ups...

my attempts at drifting end up w/ rsx upside down on floor or rolling over... my AWD doesn't help at all with traction... the guy at RS said my problem is weight distribution shifting so i plan on using stiffer springs in the front.... from red to yellow

you could probably use scotch tape or masking tape. i wouldn't suggest using electrical tape cuz it gets icky when u take it off

yup..i was using the "magic" ( ) scotch tape...it works good but you need to cut the tape down the center for it to fit properly..comes off easy with no residue left behind

wouldn't that just do constant donuts, not drifting? Or does the tape have enough grip to keep it from spinning out?

If you want to drift you really need soft springs in the front and stiff springs in the rear. You can also put harder tires in the rear and softer ones in the front.
I can drift my near-stock skyline pretty well. All I have is the stage 2 drift motor and bearings and it drifts with no problems.

Yeah, I guess with 4WD you can do burnouts with all tires at once without spinning out as long as the power is equaly distibuted to all 4 wheels. 1 question, what should I get first:
-AWD kit
-S2 motor upgrade.
I'm down to about 20 bucks and both of those are ~$15 so I was wondering which to get first. I'll be able to get them both this weekend, when I get my allowance renewal ($22).

drifting is pretty easy. i can do it 2 ways. what i do for one way is i go hard into a turn and i hit opposite turn all the way and throw it back real quick. the back end looses traction and does a nice 180 drift.
another way to pull off allmost the same move, i think its a little easier, is when going into the turn i hit the brakes while i start the turn. you just have to tap it and get back on it quick and the back end again looses grip and pulls a 180. with this move if you pull it off right you can get 90 degree turns but real hard the car wants to spin more.
this is all on a stock skyline, with 4.5 degree toe in and hard shocks all around

Not sure how you do it in a xmod because i dont have mine yet (coming this week yellow skyline w/ stage 2 engine mod's and light kit got for 60 bucks off ebay)
but in my 240 the best thing for me to do is start into a turn really hard at high speeds and just let all the way off the throttle if it doesnt break i hit the ebrake. unfortunatly i dont think you can adjust the braking of a xmod... but if you just tape up the rear wheels and run and let it off it will start spinning, then you throtttle all the way up and do a power out drift, then countersteer, and ahve a buddy take a the most breath taking pic youll ever see in your life...

Oh yea, when you let off the throttle the rear should jsut completly slide out... you may have to tap the brakes, and it will slide way out but its not easy. most fun way to drift tho. there is also the power drift, what you do in that one is come up to the turn and start slowing down then as you go into it just punch it and fly out spinning with counter steer...
