quick question about protecting the diffs

I wanted to cover the holes in the chassis in order to protect the diffs. I assume the holes are there because the diffs extend into the chassis - so the holes were cut to accomodate them. My plan was to take a little square of lexan (leftover from the packaging) and super glue it over the hole in the front and back. This would still allow the diff the same amount of space but cover the hole and prevent grit and other debris from getting into the gears. Is there another reason for that hole to be there (ie. a reason not to cover it) or will I be ok superglueing the covers on? Thanks.

man, the weather has been bad up here, lots of rain. no play time outside unfortunately. oh well, more time to bump into walls while waiting for the weather to clear - i have like no space inside.

I just put a piece of clear shipping tape over the diff holes. As a matter of fact I cover the entire bottom side of the chassis with a layer of clear tape. I originally started doing this to prevent the diffs from getting dirty but, at least on my car, it didn't seem to help. It does however serve to cover all the holes and help prevent scratches on the chassis. It's also very easy to replace once the tape gets scratched up.
