Question about enamled wire
If a wire is enamled, does it keep from conducting to random things it may touch.
I'm curious as to why the tiny wires in a bit don't short each other out when they touch, and I was also wondering if I can use this stuff for the fet modding I'm trying to do. I'm having some trouble with the wires I'm using now. It's just regular coated (plastic?) wire about .5mm~1mm. I think it's something like 5 string.
Any help would be appreciated.

boho, I swear by the stuff.... enamled wire is insulated and you use the heat of your soldering iron to melt it away and expose the wire.
For solid core wire it is very flexible and doesn't break at all.
Any techo photos of my mods usually show i've got enamled wire in there somewhere.

Thanx P. Your picture and my troubles were what raised the question. I thought I could get away with regular wire because that seems to be what micro amps is doing. But I can't find wire as small as he's using anyways. Now I'm gonna have to give this a go again. Thanx.
One day I will know enough about electronics, but not any time soon.

I believe micro_amps uses what is known as "wire wrap" wire. I know it sounds funny but it goes back to a style of prototyping circuits where all the components were not soldered but had there connectors "wired" together to make a connection.
I know this sounds confusing but I know the shop where he got it from (a popular aussie electronics store, jaycar) and I believe that's what this store's cataloge said.

I also have trouble finding those thin wires ,but I found a perfect solution. Buy an ordinary Ultra-ATA 100 computer cable. It is cheap, wires are very thin and "SINGLE" - almost the same as Micro-amps uses....just the color is grey.....
