Question Questions for Ahh5hit

im a total newbie when it comes to zipzaps cuz i just got mine 2 days ago. (i live in Richmond Canada so its really hard to get more) and i have some questions about some mods.

1) What is the best way to lower your zipzap and how do you do it?

2)Where can i find or how can i make an exhaust for my zipzap.

3)Any tips on how to paint decals or what kinds of paints to use?

4)What techniques to use when painting?

I would love to see Ahh5hit answer these questions or anyone else.

5)This one is just for Ahh5hit, where do u get ur zipzaps and how many do u have?

PS. I have an 2f2f eclipse, evo, and a 350Z if that matters
PPS. sorry its so long but i have a lot of questions and i need answers.

I like to tab lower the chassis, this way you can use it on multiple bodies. Just perform a search for "tab lowering" and you will find a tutorial I did.
2)Where can i find or how can i make an exhaust for my zipzap.
You can find them on the Import Tuner diecast. I have started using little aluminum tubes you cab get at the LHS. Also, roll sring pins can be found at hardware stores.
3)Any tips on how to paint decals or what kinds of paints to use?
I don't paint decals. I use Dupli Color automotive spray paint, it goes on really thin and even.
4)What techniques to use when painting?
If using rattle cans, use several light layers from about 12" and take your time. I usually do 2 passes at a time, with about 5 cycles.
I would love to see Ahh5hit answer these questions or anyone else.

5)This one is just for Ahh5hit, where do u get ur zipzaps and how many do u have? I buy them where everyone else does, Radioshack. I have at least 1-2 of every body and chassis, and lots of extras that I have modded. I have around 40 some chassis, and at least 60 bodies.

PS. I have an 2f2f eclipse, evo, and a 350Z if that matters

1) What is the best way to lower your zipzap and how do you do it?

Trace the tab on the zipzap onto a credit card and cut that piece out. dremel/x-acto off the original tab and glue the other one below the original tabs spot. See Ahh5hit's thread for images to be clearer on it. Use the search button at the bottom of the page!

2)Where can i find or how can i make an exhaust for my zipzap.

You can support Tiny and buy one here, or use a metal antennae (cut down) or a pen tip.

3)Any tips on how to paint decals or what kinds of paints to use?

decals are water transfer stickers. no painting involved. just print (or buy), wet, slide off paper.

4)What techniques to use when painting?

Make sure you mask your windows with masking tape, use smooth strokes left and right when spraypainting/airbrushing. dont let off the spray while you are in the middle section of the car. this causes any paint spatter to splat all over the car. spray long strokes all the way across from side to side.
hope that helps

Tab lowering...

Also, I found that the Tamayia masking tape is awesome. Very clean edges and no bleed thru.

I did answer your question, I get them at Radioshack. The manager here can even get ahold of the retired kits too. That is how I got all the past kits that I missed before I started this hobby.

I mainly get mine from one of three RS here in Richmond, VA. I also purchase from the 1-800 number when I have the item number before stuff is on the site or in stores.
