Spare ZZ Controller=Standalone Charger
I know alot of you wanted to do the Layman's Dual, but were turned away because you didn't have the money or you didn't want to make a charger. Now let me reassure, it isn't as hard as you think if you have ever had more than 1 zipzap. That second controller can be turned into a charger in about 3 minutes.
First, unscrew the controller, pcb (the controller pcb, not the car), and antenna (also in controller).
Then, take a scissor, and cut the red and black wires connected to the charger base (the part where you put your ZZ to charge). Try to cut them as long as possible.
Do the same with the red and black wires connected to the battery holder thingy.
You can discard the circuit board and antennae, unless you want them for something else. Now we will need to make some of the bare wire of each wire show through the insulation. for this, you must be VERY gentle if you want to do it without buying anything.
Take a scissor, and VERY VERY VERY lightly cut into the wire insulation, about .5" from the end (the end that is not connected to anything). Not enough to cut the wire in half, juuuust enough to cut a visible gash into the insulation.
Now just pull on the cut half in the direction toward the open end, and pull off the insulation.
After you have done this with each wire, just twist the bare black wire threads together (like yarn, or whatever you like to twist together), and the bare red wires. voila, you have created a simple standalone charger.
