OK TinyRC lovers. Here's my track. I got a cheap disposible camera and took some shots. I need to get a camera to take close ups as that's where this track really shines, but that's for later. In these pics you can see the whole layout. It's 4'x8' on painted 1/2" plywood. The outer wall is baseboard and the barriers are 3/4" trim strips. It has an overpass, helecopter landing pad that the cars can drive up to, and even has a gator pond with tiny cat tails. The two parking lot areas, one with the four hot wheels cars and the one behind the pit lane, will be built up as I go along. Little buildings, or maybe a carnival. The track, one of the open lots, and the access road to the copter pad, all go under the overpass. The little yellow and green striped walls are gates that can be opened or closed to section off the track. The little white balls on the top of the gates are affixed to pins that hold the gates closed. You pull up on the ball to release the pin and open the gate. The overpass is covered in textured HO scale random stone material, and even has vines growing on it. Best part is, I didn't have a dime in this track until I started adding trees and such as I had all the materials lying around from other projects. So, here we go with pic number one.

looks very nice and very technical. how does it feel to drive on it? how long did it take to make?

I love driving on it. It is rather technical, but loads of fun. The painted surface (dark gray latex porch paint) is nice and grippy. The ramps to the overpass where very carefully laid out. The approach is about 13 degrees, the down side is around 30. I did this when the old PCBs had less torque. But, it doesn't matter now that the new ones have arrived. New proportional Zips would be a dream on this track and is the main reason I've been waiting for them. If they don't, there is always Puchi's. You have to get a knack for this track with the regular micros. A sharp steering maneuver will slam you right into the barrier. The lanes are 9" wide consistantly throughout. Except in the squeeze section where it drops to six and the hairpin which is intentionally wider. About the time, I'm not sure. I work on it off and on and it will never be finished. I plan to augment the track forever. Building up the parking lot areas, lights, and a couple things I'm keeping to myself. I suppose I've been working on it for around 8 months now. But, it's probably like two or three weeks if straight in a row. My favorite part is that I have only 150.00 in the thing to date. And that's all in the landscaping. Just wait til I get some close ups. There are rock formations that I made by studying the TTTT guys stuff in Germany. The gator pond has fake water and even has a gator in the upper part of the pond behind a small waterfall. And the tiny cat tails are just too cool. I work on this thing as a medatative technique. I can go in the garage, turn on some tunes, and block out the whole world as I add some little doo dad.

I hear ya on building tracks as a form of relaxation. Just pull up a chair throw on a cd and crack open a cold brew and it's a blast.

What materials did you use on the ramps there? I like to use foamboard as it's nice, light and flexible.
Also at 4'x8' how are you storing it?

Looking forward to seeing your other improvements.

I used masonite sheeting left over from a renovation. Storage is a problem with this thing. It is in my garage now next to my printing equipment. It's a lot like having a pool table sitting there. It's up on two saw horses now, but I plan to outfit it with legs and a large storage drawer underneith like a big piece of furniture.
