Make a rug runner without spending any money? Unless you have a huge surplus of toys, I'd consider using powerful words like presto and alacazam.
I tried making a rug runner out of a cyclone clone once. The steering wasn't nearly powerful enough, and the plastic was too weak. The heavy wheels just stripped out the wells. Everything got loosie-goosie, both in back and in front. I'm now using a Motorworks body which has worked out much better, but it's still not all that great. Without bushing the plastic holes up front, I just don't see a way to make a rug runner steer well enough to make me happy.

You can do a search in this forum for "Rug Runner"
All I used were Zip Zap and Lego wheels, a piece of paper and some super glue.
