Got a little sidetracked. But I'm back. Revolutionary new idea inside (micro tranny)

Had to put the little cars away for a while..been running the real thing on the track..but had a slight problem this past weekend
have to pull motor and trans. both are hurt.

so i'm back to the micro's while i wait for parts.
anyway... got my 2F2F tuner kit, musclcar body kit, and 2f2f body kit today... ratshak has tons of stuff in stock... very cool

i saw that someone put the little bit wheels on the muscle cars...looking good. i'm definitly going to have to do that.

also have a new idea in the works.
got the idea from spending a few days rebuilding my stang tranny...will have to mold my own chassis sections too. im going to try to keep it as small as possile..but if not...it'll have the "import tuner" blue civic body. slightly larger. it'll be using a clone pcb as an aux board to switch gears. will just need forward/back to pull in each gear 1(blue),2(green),3(red)... reverse will be like normal...but it'll work in whatever gear ur in.

the way it'll work.
first prototype will have a flywheel setup in free motion of the motor.

with the motor pinion sticking out the center, motor will be spinning all gears on the flywheel at once, since they all touch the pinion at the center, but the flywheel doesnt move.

only one gear on the flywheel will be contacting the drive gear on the axle at a time.

the flywheel will move by use of a worm gear..so that tq of the moving gears cannot move the flywheel/secondary motor setup.

when u shift, the secondary motor will spin flywheel allowing the next gear to engage, it wont spin fast..worm gear drives are very slow and torquey and will act as a kinetic diode so the gear will hold position. i need to figure out a positive stop system for it.

the shape of the flywheel has to be slightly out of round..so that the different sized gears can all contact the drive gear(has to stay static).the motor/flywheel assmbly will need to slide up and down freely..like 1mm max..but i can put it on a spring..the worm gear drive will easily overcome it.

i will make a pic of it shortly to complement the description.

my pic is bigger than real size.
in actuality, it's no taller than putting a battery over the stock motor.
it'll fit in a PT no problem
i already have all the parts except the main flywheel gear. and i may
just cast it and notch the gears in with a dremel.

all in all this is a very simple project.

You should throw a set of kit racer gears in there for some overdrive! BTW, I did the bit wheels on the challenger.

very very cool idea. this can make that goofy 5 speed shifting 2f2f zipzap game make sense as far as the gears go also, if you did this in a bit that is alreayd 2 speed, would that mean you have a 6 speed transmission???

bah.. i tried casting a gear out of poly resin.. it came out too soft. didnt use enough catalyst i guess...

anyway, i found a bunch of thin plexiglass...going to cut out a small disk and notch gears into that.
