Controller Compatibility

Hi all,

Forgive me, as I’m new to R/Cs, but I have a quick question. Is there a FAQ file somewhere, showing which brands of micro R/Cs are compatible with which controllers? It would be really nice to know, before I buy, whether I can make use of a certain controller for other cars.

Just to introduce myself, I got into micro R/Cs just a couple weeks ago. Some salesman came by the office and sold me a nifty Panther for $10.00. I fell in love with it, and had to get a few more R/Cs. I went by Radio Shack and picked up a Zip Zap, which was not fulfilling. The ZZ ran well enough, especially with a dual battery conversion, but just wasn’t fun like the Panther. It’s as if Radio shack designed a great working car, but forgot to make it fun. So I tried a couple of those Wal-Mart Motorworks. The Motorworks played beautifully, but the bodies just weren’t my cup of tea.

So the wife and I (Yep. I’m a grow-up )went to Toys-R-Us and a hobby shop yesterday. It was R/C heaven. I got a MicroSizer Pro, a couple of Cyclona Bit Char-Gs, and a couple of Precious clones. What a nightmare. One Precious had a busted wire to the antenna controller, which I had to solder. The other Precious had an antenna with stripped threads. I’ve got no fix for that yet. One Cyclona had a busted on/off switch, which needed a super-glue session to repair, and the other Cyclona had massive steering problems. I fixed most of the steering issues with a scalpel and a change of tires, but there’s still more to be done. The MicroSizer was DOA, with a loose wire to the motor contact. A little soldering, and the MicroSizer was back in action. What the heck ever happened to quality control!!!!

On the good side, I now understand why the real deal MicroSizers are so great. The MicroSizer handles and steers much better than any of the clones. The car is phenomenal, especially since I popped in the 2.6 motor from the Panther. The Panther motor is just plain wicked. Lots of Torque and speed. Oh yah. I also got one of those Bit gear and axle kits, and popped the 8.25:1 gear the in the MicroSizer. Very nice.

I really dig the turbo button the Microsizer Pro. I don’t really like the button placement on the controller, but the turbo button concept is nice. I’ve got a feeling that it’ll be even more appreciated when I pop one of those 3.8 motors in it, or do a dual battery conversion.

Anyways, hello everybody, and thanks for posting up all of the great threads. I never would have gotten my cars actually working without the info on this forum!!!!

I woulda just taken them all back & gotten exchanges. Microsizers are the best Mini R/C in my opinion. Anything else & I think your'e just taking your chances. My "local" Hobby shop is like 2 hours from my house (if traveling by car going an average of 30 mph) I hate northern California. Nobodys into cool stuff any more. Everyones either into "pimping/basketball" "punk" or "fine arts". The fine artish people are atleast kind & polite. I like some punk rock music & hang out with some punkers but I'm not a "punk". I have nothing wrong with the punks but I can understand why people don't like em. The rappers are another story...

All in all I want I have a plan. Survive the rest of my last year in middle school. Pray that high school will be better & hope I make my 7th maybe even my 8th good friend on earth & move to Kentuky, train for pro wrestling. Go through the ranks of O.V.W & graduate into NWA or WWE. Chances are this woun't happen but its my best chase scenario
