A nice pair (of RX-7s)
I was noticeing how a lot of step up models of cars have a pinstripe going down the quarter panel. I knew I couldn't do a stripe that thin on a Bit, but I thought a thin stripe in that area would be a nice subtle detail for a bit.
So painted both my RX-7s with the same theme. I like how when the light glares off the side of the car, it's hard to see if it's a stripe or glare.
The LXX car on the left got a Medium Charcoal paint job, with Gold trim. I think the Gold accents the Charcoal nicely. I also painted the rims black w/ gold trim, and dropped the front body tab.
The Microsizer Pro on the right has the stock paint, but it was transparent so I painted the body silver underneath, and now it's like a mile deep candy blue. Added the accent stripes, and painted the spokes on the rims gold.

To make the stripe, I first stuck a piece of masking tape on the car. Drew the stripe, then pulled the tape off, and cut out the stripe with an exacto knife. Stuck it back on the car. Then painted it in with a Testors paint marker. While the paint was still fresh, I used the tip of the exacto knife to scrape off excess paint around the edges, and make the edges nice and crisp. Then after it dried over night, I rubbed it down with Meguiers car wax, to smooth it down, and make it shiny.

Hmm, got an RX-7 just today, I used to collect Gundam models, I still have left-over decal paper, nice and silvery. Maybe I can copy your design... *Rubs palms together...* Nah, I'll leave your alone and make something original...
Wow, I clicked on your Supra link, how did ya get those flames on there so nicely?

man i have to poop right now....but yea, i like the blue RX7 alot, i like the gold one because of the shine of paint. Im not really a gold guy hehehe. the paint looks so consistint (sp way off) how do you get it so good, and what did you use to mask ***turns of the bright white light in his face***

I use Acrylic Laquer, it dries thinner than Enamel. You can get it at auto parts stores in spray and bottle as touch up paint.
To get the paint to lay thinner I soak the can in hot water first, and if you paint in the morning when it's cooler out, the paint will dry slower and level better. If you paint when it's warm out it will dry too quick and leave bumps.
That paint job actually came out bumpy, so I went over it with 3M rubbing compound, followed by some Mequiers wax. You have to be super careful useing rubbing compound on these tiny cars. It's very easy to rub through the paint on the tiny curves. I just did itty bitty "wax on" and "wax off" circles. Now my finger tip can kick your boodie with it's karate kid-like moves.
