OH MY GOSH (i can't believe i did that)
Oh My Gosh!!!
Okay I got my new 4cell pack and soft springs today and got ready to put them in. No problem until I decided to put the car back together. I accidentally set my soldering iron on my servo motor gear. Melted!!!!!!!!!! There were still a few teeth left, so I put it back together to try it. I steered worse than my DG RS Viper. Suck Suck Suck!!!
I almost cried. I counted that there were 9 teeth on the gear. I tore apart the Viper and pulled the servo gear and it had 8 teeth. I tried it anyway. Guess what... I like it better now than before. My old home made 4cell pak was not getting full capacity, but now I'm getting more power and speed than ever before! The steering seems perfect for my driving style. I don't know what the deal is, but I love the Epoch more than ever now.
My Viper is outta comission, but who cares. I never use it anyway. My new soft springs? Whoaaa Nellie!!! I can turn so much sharper now at high speeds. I have them set up for long travel for rally type racing. (jumps here and there) It raises my ride height but this is also a bonus because I can drive on my med. weave carpet much faster without getting stuck if desired. I get more air off the lip of my jumps now, because the suspension is compressing at the transition of my ramps and releasing pressure on the lip. Springy!!!
I don't know if I would have noticed a difference in the smaller 8tooth steering gear with the way it was set up before. I do know now that with the longer softer suspension and balanced, faster battery pack, I can't stand to play with (oops sorry) seriously race anything else that I have. That is until I get my Mini-Z or Digi-Q. Still no substitute.
Love 'em!!!!

I love my epochs too, they are definetly BIG fun!
I got the spring set, only the fronts though, and hell yea theres a super difference in performance.
Did you get both front and rear? I held off cause I wasn't sure if it would make that much of an impact on performance!
Sorry to hear about your toofeses, but like you said "you never use the viper anyway", you're lucky you had it around for spare parts though!

Actually, the springs came as a set of front and rear. I love them both. Rear is definately impressive. No wheel hop anymore. My butt stays planted to the track!
I'm still thinking abouttrying to put theViper back together to sell it. I can't stand to run the thing anymore. I just need to find a new gear.
