It's purpose is to dampen the twitchiness of the steering for use with very high speed cars, ie: motor/gearset combos and/or multi-cell mods.
It doesn't prevent it from working, it just slows it down a little so the car has time to react.
The physics are interesting to think about at that scale.
It also helps keep the wheels centered of course, again for high speed cars, but I also found it usefull when doing larger or monster wheelsets too.

Dual steering springs is a MUST in dual cell cars. They wobble all over the place, and if you have the FS wheelset with the dual cell, I would highly recommend it. Because the steering spring has a hard time returning the wheels back to normal if they are full sized.

Controller
Have put a 3rd Battery on the conroler
Put A little LED in the controller so you know when its turnt on.
Taken the controler Criple Cap out
Changed the charging base strait to charge from batteries
Car
Put blue lights that turn on when you accelerate or reverse
Put Always on Leds (back and front) attached to chasis so you can use any shell
External Dual Cell
Internal Dual Cell
Put in a swich for Single and Double Cell
Droped the shell so the wheels sit nicer
replaced arial with Cat-5 cable
put in the 120mAh NiMH batteries
taken Crip Cap out of PCB Board
Ofcourse they aint on the same car

Mods, pshh, didn't do much really, I let my fried borrow my Bit, and he broke it, so I got a new one. No thanks to him, never lettin' him borrow anything again.
Double Car antenna (Winding around each other)
2.6
1.0 motor in the back for two reasons, 1: To use it when I want to run my car somewhere where I don't need speed, only control, like on a table, and 2: Looks like a little Nitrous bottle, das mi' nam'
The only REAL mod I did was the antenna, since the second antenna I wound around the original one is hard, I can put my car antenna up, and leave it there since it is now hard, therefore better range. Really gotta work on mine....
Maybe I can work on lowering mine...

I just started modding my "main ride" a couple days ago. It's a Microsizer Pro with Toyota bB body. I've gone dual battery with the second bat riding on top of the pcb cover. I think I want to move it internally though, as I'm having some center of gravity issues with faster motors. I also raised the body to accomodate the bat in the bB, and constructed a dual cell charger.
I actually got in a Perfection LED kit for my bB, but there's no room for it with that second battery installed. The bat definitely has to go internal.
I'll hopefully pick up some paints this weekend, so I can start to work on the clear bB body that came with the car.

It's in the alternate antenna ideas thread. I think it's in Bit Science. All I did was put copper wire on the inside of the car and connnected it to the original antenna it gave about 3 extra feet, but it was weighing down the car, so I took it out.
