Sorry dude, 'nitro' is short for Nitro Methane. That stuff is wicked flammable. The abbr. for nitrous oxide is just 'nitrous'.

Heheh, definitely not a fan of nitrous. Only good for straight line. Any monkey can be trained to drive in a straight line especially if the car's an auto!

Someone mentioned nitrous can be really dangerous. Aside from the fact that the car's engine is at risk when you add nitrous, and it can be diffucult to control, (that's why straight line only) the gas itself being an oxidizer is quite dangerous. No, it's not the same nitrous oxide that makes you happy at the dentist. My ex-roommate, while watching Fast 'N Furious remarked about the scene where Johnny Tran and buds shoot up the green Eclipse and the NOS blows the car to bits. His exact reaction was, "What!!??? No way.... that's ridiculous"

Oh, and hogjowlz, you're right, the real nitrous systems have absolutely nothing to do with micro r/c cars. Someone's obviously just a little peeved at the overuse or inaccurate use of the term 'NOS'.

However, you should note that the person is probably peeved because of Zip Zaps and their naming one of the aftermarket add-on motors, the 'NOS motor'. Obviously, there's no connection or usage of NOS or nitrous in a tiny electric motor, or ANY electric motor. They jsut called it that trying to cash in on the popularity of the 'Fast 'N Furious' movie, where NOS supposedly makes for very fast cars, so they're implying the 'NOS motor' for the Zip Zap is very fast.

Oh well, it's just a new stupid cultural trend like using the term 'turbo' in the '80s for everything from "Turbo fishing line" to "Turbo shoes" and all manner of things with no connection to turbochargers and the term 'Titanium' in the '90s for plastic objects that have no titanium in them whatsoever.

I think anyone who gets peed off at the use of nos as an abreviation for a nitrous system needs to breath a lil more.

yep... im not too sure which company the NOS name lives under... but whoever they are, they're very, very smart. and they also miseducate one hell of a lot of people... i heard some lady talking about nitrous the other day, but she kept saying NOS....... i wasnt gonna do anything about it, cuz middle aged ladies dont really matter to me..

but my friend got really spazzy and asked her if she knew what she was talking about, and bitched her out pretty bad... i just kinda stood in the corner facing the wall
