June 2003 in Cali and Feb 2004 in southern states and pretty much all of East coast and I forget when the rest of the states get it. Base price MSRP is 13,280 for the xB and they will be releasing the xA at the same time as the xB (see previous pages for pics) which is more like a car than a van. Then later on they will be releasing a third model dubbed the ccX which is similar (exterior wise) to the xA but the interior is way WAY cooler! (again see previous pages for pics of all cars)

Heres the specs for the xB:

Wheelbase (in.) 98.4
Length (in.) 155.3
Rear Track (in.) 56.3
Front Track (in.) 57.3
Width (in.) 66.5
Curb Weight (lbs.) 2400 est

And yes I agree the base price is awesome! Man...I sincerely hope thye have a factory turbo system available as an add-on. That would be sweet...cause I don't wanna hafta wait for the warranty to expire. I do know they'll have a cold air intake system factory installed...along with 39 other options but...I htink all the turbo systems are after market. Oh well we'll see!
--------
BTW I think this is a Silvia...I can't really tell it's not put together, it's all in japanese, and he doesn't have a photo for a complete model on his page so...anyway

yeah I love the xB man...I can NOT wait 'till it's out...I'm seriously considering taking a road trip to Cali this summer. LOL Anyway, I believe the deal with Scion is that American's have this view of the name Toyota that leaves the younger guys (sub 30's mainly) thinking of a car company that makes cars for older people so they created this Marque of Scion that will appeal to the sub-30 age group in image and sale of the vehicle. There won't be any pressure to purchase, no 20 salesmen waiting out front to pounce on you the moment you get out of your car, no sales pitches, no haggling, etc. The setup and everything is supposedly going to be very relaxed atmosphere-wise. Here's the quote directly from Scion/Toyota themselves about the showroom:
"Each showroom will be divided into three main components to create a distinctive dealership environment – a product area, a discovery zone and consultation space. The product area will feature an information wall with a display case of various optional accessories and a color and trim stand. Many showrooms will also display a Scion vehicle with various accessories already installed. A discovery zone is supported by self-service Internet kiosks. Lastly, certified salespeople will be available to offer assistance and guidance in the consultation space. These highly interactive surroundings will deliver a customer-controlled atmosphere."

dude...that would make an awesome first car! Totally! I'd get it! LOL But that's me and not you...hehe you probly want an 86 right? j/k! Anyway, but it'll have a lot of aftermarket prevalence...though I don't know how any of the mods will affect warranty. I just really really hope they'll have an OEM turbo system available....I really really do....man. I sincerely don't wanna wait till the warranty runs out. LOL I'd be too hyped up to mod my xB...not much mind you...just get about 200 HP out of it is all.
Anyway...so just out of curiosity what ARE you considering for your first car?

hmmm...if you're considering a tacoma maybe you ougtha get the 4Runner? At least that's what I'd get...though my apprehension there is that, where I live at least, the 4Runner is an extremely popular SUV. Heck any SUV is popular. blah....I've gotten to where I almost abhore the sight of one. LOL Oh well...anyway yeah the MR2 used to be my dream car! They are sweet! Somebody (still haven't figured out who) at my work as one! Nice candy apple red one. mmmmm....man would love to have one of those...however, my current dream car is either the Skyline R-34 or a NSX. Both largely out of my price range but still...one can dream. OH well, my xB will do, if and when I procure one. And hopefully it will look as cool as this one: (buzz baby! buzz!!)
