Unhappy Problems with 3.8 motors?

I bought 2 3.8 motors here, and during the last two days, I've managed to burn out both of them.

The first, I had just installed the new 150mah battery and wanted to test the run time. I flipped my car on its back and placed something heavy on the controller. After it ran out of juice, I put the car up for a few hours. When I came back, I couldn't get the engine to go. I could push it, and it would just barely eek forward.

Today, I put my spare 3.8 in. I challenged a friend to a race. I got a few charges out of it and the same thing happened. Within 20 minutes, a 2.2 could have beaten me. This was not constant motion as the day before. It was more like off an on, stopping, chatting, racing a few laps on a giant boardroom table, etc.

Is this just the type of performance I should expect out of the 3.8s? Are they not much better than for drag racing (short quick races)?

MicroFury, there are a few bad ones in every few hundred produced - email us and we'll replace them. I'm surprised that you got two bad ones, sorry about that! But don't worry, we will take care of you! Btw, please use the Customer Support sub-forum in future for faster handling of issues like this:

Tinyrc when i recieved my body and engine, my body was in the package like it should be... at first i couldnt find my engine. So i looked all through the paper in the box. at the bottom of the box there was a blue bird mail sticker wrapped around a small plastic bag. when i opened the bag i found my engine i odered. there was no shipping paper or odering information with them. do you know how this happened

thanks

I swear, I don't know how you guys trash your motors. I use 3cell in series and run for 8 min. per charge. I do this for hours. My motors don't even get warm.

It's not a voltage problem, cause I use alot of it. You guy's must just be jinx'd, eh?

Talking

I could take this opportunity to talk about the quality and performance of the ToyEast Perfection 3.8, which is available here, but I won't.

I will not mention the fact that this motor, which is only $4.95, is the best performing 3.8 you'll ever find.

Just to be clear, I will NOT take this opportunity to talk about the Perfection 3.8.

In that case, I won't talk about how much that motor will cost with the S/H if you only buy that motor.(lots of people can only afford one motor)

And I won't mention that if you want to pay the S/H you'll wait 2 weeks for the package..

I like ToyEast, but unless you have a big enough order to compensate for the plane ticket to get it here, it's just not worth it..

They could mark the price as free and you'll still pay more than $10 for it in S/H charges...lol

I agree on the Perfection 3.8 motors and the price. It's a GREAT deal if you plan on picking up a few little other things such as batts, heat sync's and more... I just received 3 of them with some other little things to make it worth my while. And it only took 1 week to get everything from them.

In that case, I won't mention the fact that even with shipping I can buy a Perfection 3.8 for less than a TinyRC R-Spec.

$10.80 for ToyEast versus $15.99 (!) for TinyRC.

Hey, I'm just saying!

Let's say you have a problem with your new motor from ToyEast.
How do you plan to ship it back to them in HK and then wait another 2 weeks for it again, and still be under the price tag of TRC?

I'm not disagreeing with you totally.. Just on the point of it's not cost effective to order just one motor from them..

Figure out the answer to this equation..

One motor from TE for $10.80, and upon arrival it doesn't work.

You've already got $10.80 invested in it, and it's up to you to send it back to get it replaced.. Now how much have you payed for it??? and how long till you can actually play with it?
Just my 2 cents..

Speaking of which..... Has anyone ever had a problem with their Perfection 3.8 ?????

No? Me either!
Then I guess there's no need for customer service on this issue..........

Just My Opinion Too!
