having trouble putting image in sig

sorry for the trouble but i was wondering if someone can help me ok when i go to put this custom avatar i made in my sig it just shows the link and on the side it says[img] mode off so how do i turn that on.

so does anyone know how to put image code on in sigs mine is off and i don't know how to turn it on

Images are only allowed for avatars...Not allowed in Sigs.

I know that they aren't allowed and all, but just curious... Why aren't they? People put too big a picture in them?
