Harping on newbies will be DELETED.
I'm starting to notice more negativety toward the newbies, as far as telling them to use the 'search' function.
These Forums are NOT going to turn into a place where people are afraid to ask questions.
There's a SIMPLE thing you can do if you're tired of seeing the same questions...DON'T reply.
We're not going to hand out warnings for any offenders, we're just going to edit/delete comments (so don't be surprised).
Things are going to be kept FRIENDLY here at TinyRC!

i applaud to your post. i try to do the same thing at my own forum. too bad i can't say the same about how i moderate at Probetalk.com but it's basically needed over there, due to our very large database of information and heavy traffic.
i'm that i won't be treated like a newbie, i usually try to refrain from questions that have already been asked before.

FAQ
I think there should be a FAQ sticky so the newbies don't have to ask so many question again and again.

I use the SEARCH feature a lot to figure out my questions but we all have to understand that the newcomers (especially those who never used an internet board before) will not realize the potential of the SEARCH feature.
Benefits for the SEARCH feature: - topics from the past come in handy
- waiting for a reply might take some time
- saves bandwidth
- less posts for moderators to review
- its like an encylopedia (of micro R/C in this case) with the right keywords
- other benefits i have not thought about
Of course, keywords is the key to successful search. Using "Microsizers" as a keyword is not a good idea because I'm quite sure at least a fourth of the topics in this board will come out. But when you add another keyword, like "range", you'll probably narrow it down significantly (yes, I know range will really still leave a lot of topics out there). But when you add additional keywords like "short", you'll narrow it down some more (those keywords will still clutter your results, since microsizer range is a hot topic). Sometimes, if you can't find what you want try to use other words that have a similar meaning, like instead of "Microsizers" you could use "Bit Char" (note: not many would say the full name "Bit Char-G" and some frequently use "Bit(s)"). Also, you may think of other words that would help you narrow the search down to about ten to twenty topics, like for example, the example search "MICROSIZERS RANGE SHORT", a good keyword to add is "increase" (as the solution would INCREASE the range). Well, thats my rough introduction on searching and keywords.

Just don't do like other forums and lock threads whilst saying "Use the search!" "Use the search!". I usually try to anwer newbie questions, it takes just as long as complaining about them

Oh but there are, they're located at the top Bit, ZZ ect. forums! They're labeled 'Look Here First', actually if you hadn't noticed Namuna has kindly added them to his sig, for even more added convience.

Locking posts actually annoy more then just the newby. Imagine someone on the board wanting to reply to their question. They spend 5 minutes answering, only to find out it's been locked by the time they hit send. It's the absolute worst thing any forum can do. I applaud this board for leering away from that. Locking posts that are pointless are fine. I think an image/phrase at the top of all forums could work (I hate sticky's). Attach the search hyperlink to it as well. Something catchy like the "Be kind, please rewind" catch phrase. So how about....
Before you press send, can you search beforehand?
The answers are here, just search and be clear.
If you've searched all day, post away!
Got Search?
Be kind and keep neat. Search before you repeat.
The answers are near, press the search button here.
For sh*ts and giggles...
Before you provoke, search you frickin' bloke!
If you're looking for answers, search first you damn b@$t@rd!
If you need answers quick, press the search button D***!
How can you have any pudding if you don't search here first?
Bling bling, search dis thing.
My FAVORITE!
Press here if you hate the French. <- this'll get everyone to search.
