The Civic was Gold to begin with. So I was talking about the Charcoal flames. I just masked the rest of the body, so only the flames were exposed, I sprayed from behind the car, so the paint would miss the front end, giving me a little bit of a fade.
The S2000 I did the otherway. Painting it Silver, masking off the flames, then painting the rest of the body Charcoal.
After trying it both ways, I think I get better results painting the body color first, then adding the flames on top.

Great job Dave!
One question, how did you mount the wing. I wanted to do the same to my silver S2k with the same ZZ wing but I'm not sure how to mount it.

I just drilled a couple holes. Used an exacto knife to elongate them slightly. (From front to back)
I have the same problem here that i had with my Civic, where it looks like its tilting back, but since i took the picture, I jammed it in the hooles tighter, and now it tilts fowards, looks better though.
I dropped the front body mount slightly too. Not to lower it, but just because I noticed the bottom of the body agle back from the chassis. Now the body sits level, and has a nice sporty look.
The S2000 body is cool, because I haven't had to dremel the wheel wells at all, even with the ZZ rims, and the front lowered.

I've noticed that the S2000 body has a slightly up angle at the front. It irks me a little but not enough to try to lower it. Don't want to screw it up.
Anyway, great job on your mod. I really think it looks great. The flames kick a$$!

I would suggest you use Bright White, it's more opaque than regular white, and just use several thin coats, it's not going to be opaque on the first coat.
Also, unless you have an air brush, it's would be difficult to get yellow just in the tips with a spray can. You could brush the yellow in, but I've found lumpy brush strokes really stand out on these tiny cars.

its auctually easy to do with a spray can... all you have to do is place a piece of paper about a half inch over the subject your painting. so that it covers the part that you dont want painted.. when you spray down some paint will get behind it allowing a fade type of effect.. it takes some practice to master.. but it does work good..
