Wires

So I was thinking about power!!! I install my own stereo's systems and when your doing it you always want to use big thick power wires so you can get more power to your amps. So I was looking a minix's and saw this pic with some thickwires on this mini x. Would it help to use thick wires going from the batteries to the engine in a zipzap

Hello all, I am an Electrical Engineer and I think I can shed some light on this subject. Thicker wires will lower the resistance of the connection but not by very much for this application. Resistance is a function of the length and the cross-sectional area (ie. thickness) of a wire. The shorter the wire the smaller the resistance. Also, the thicker the wire the smaller the resistance. The material also plays a role in the resistance. Copper wires are better than Aluminum, Gold is better than copper (kinda expensive though, eh). There is other stuff better than gold too, but considering cost a really good connection would be a thick copper wire made as short as possible.

However, I really don't think there is much to be gained here, but hey every little bit counts, eh.
