Normally, they are both solid and stay in place on the axle, transferring power to both wheels equally. When one comes loose, all the power is going to one side and causes the the car to veer. Test it with a different rear axle.
Doesn't seem like either of the wheels are loose....and this is my first bit, so I don't have any extra axles to test it with....I'm still trying to get a screwdriver to open the steering assembly....it doesn't seem to be veering anymore, but I still want to check...I'll keep you guys posted...
