How can I stop dual cell from rolling on turns?
Hey everybody,
I bought a new MS Sport this morning from Target. At first I tried the Lego wheels mod on it but that turned to crap. The wheels were too heavy and I couldn't turn.
Anyway, I ended up undoing all that mess and dual celled it. I put a Toyota Bb body on it and ran the wires to the outside. I stuck the 2nd batt to the tail of the Bb with double sided tape. Then I made a stand-alone 3 AAA charger for it out of an old Motorworks charger I had lying around. I took out the 1.6 motor and put in an extra 2.2 that I have stockpiled from some Bit Racers.
My main problem is that the darned thing is so fast now that when I turn at speed, it rolls over. Is there any way I can stop this?

yeah I have a great way that I used on a larger car that i overvolted
aslong as the car has a little bit of groung clearance you can cut a thin strip of somthing fairly hard yet light and tape it under the middle of the car it sounds confusing but the pic will explain it
when the car turns and goes on 2 wheels the plastic is like a side wheelie bar stoping it
the black is the plastic or what ever you use the red is the car

Thanks Nick. That sounds like a great idea.
After reading that, I have a similar idea. I have some guide rollers left over from some Kit Racers. I think I could cut one in half and stick one half on each side. That way it'll have a wheel on each side to stabilize it.
Thanks again,
Tony

It worked! Thanks again Nick!
I cut a guide Kit Racer guide roller in half and superglued one half to each side. It works perfectly. You can actually see the car try to roll and then the guide catches it!

I would move the second battery inboard, add a second steering return spring and spring suspension.
That would:
1) Move the mass to where it should be
2) Slow down the otherwise twitchy steering
3) Allow the front suspension to be TRULY independant
Failing the internal mod, the suspension and steering mod should help your car be more like a car, and handle the speed you're giving it.
I can't fault you for using that other method, but it's not for me.

yeah that could work but it would still probably flip
to roneboy it it ugly now my method you cant see if you use clear plastic
on my car t is about a palm sized tyco rc car with a 4AA battery holder
I took it apart put a bigger antana on it and strapped a 7.2V battery to it it has a clear plexiglass strip under it its only 3 wheeled too so you hear the antiflip plate under it scraping when you turn

Here's a mod using 2 K.I.T. Racer bars. The quality of the picture is bad bcause my digi cam isn't good up close.

I saw the Kit Racers at Toys R Us tonight for $6.98 and that was marked down from like $10 or so. Man I thought that was a pretty good price but I did not see anything on them worth while for me.

That's kind of a lot for what I've seen. I got some at Target for 1.98.

That's almost like what I ended up doing, Zeph. But instead I cut one guide in half and pasted one half to each side. It works pretty well now. Hasn't rolled yet.
Thanks again for all the great advice guys.

The motors are good. They come with either a 2.2 (stock) or a 2.6. They are all Tomy motors and really good quality. I bought a few when Target closed them out for $1.98(U.S.) at the beginning of this year. Anyway, now my stockpile is almost gone because of the stupid crap I've tried to do.

Nice job on the anti flip rollers. Me well I hadn't had that problem with my MS sport but I have a MB2.6 in mine. It runs like a bat out of hell and turns with out insedent even with the second cell on the back. Dop you used a open deck right? thats why unless you didn't put the cell in the cab of the body.<edit/ I chang my MS body to a Subaru WRX . My three cell had a biger problem tho. It wanted to pop a weele onto its back.
