Front wheel problem

Alright all, I'm having some issues inserting the bearings into my new wheels. Anybody tried tapping with a hammer with any success??

nooooo, you misunderstood. I have an auldey WITH the wheel upgrades that I'm currently trying to INSTALL. I already have the tires off of the axles. I'm ATTEMPTING to install the bearings (as seen on www.tinracers.com) but they don't seem to fit. There appears to be a small lip inside the "heat" wheels that the bearings are getting stuck on. I've used a lot of pressure to try to get them past it, but to no avail. I was wondering if anyone has had this same problem and if tapping in the bearings would be a possible solution. I also thought about taking the bearings back out, and filing or drilling the lip inside the wheel down. Any suggestions??

Thanks.....

kind of obvious

If ther is a lip on the wheel, trim it off. It may just be casting flash from the manufacturing process. Use an xacto knife and carfully trim it off.

If the hole in the wheel is the wrong size, find a drill bit and use it to enlarge the hole to the outside diameter of the bearing. You do want to be extremly carefull so that the drill is straight and parallel- use a drill press, if you have axcess to one. The axle should hold the bearings in the wheel if it's a little loose. Just remember the point of bearings is to let the bearing take care of all the rotation.

Well, I got the bearings in. ALTHOUGH I ended up installing them on the "outside" of the wheels. They popped right in without being forced. I found out from the guys @ www.tinracers.com that some of the wheel types work better this way. This was on the "heat" tires that I did this on. PLUS with me putting the bearings on the outside, I basically reversed the steps and put the bushings in between the tires and the axles. IMO this looks much better since the gawdy green bushings are now riding "inside" the wheels. It gives the exterior view a better look.
