Cool Project Frankenbit

Project Frankenbit is going to be a totalled Shen revived from the dead! The rear tab is broken off, the steering wires broken, the steering spring lost, the battery holder part of the chassis has been melted the hell out of, and it has some steering issues....

It will have a dual cell mod, IN THE CHASSIS, and will be lowered. This bit will be brought back from the dead after the chip being stripped of all the wires, and lots of stuff melted.

Pics of it are coming soon! I need to recharge my digital camera battery....

I'm not exactly transplanting it, just putting it back in.... I wouldn't mind doing yours, but I am the worst solderer in the world, and I am only 15!

Actually, I think this project may be cancelled..... The steering wires TOTALLY broke, I cannot find an end to pull it out of the ring dealys, and if I can't fix that, I either need some new ones, I will make it into a dragster, or the project is cancelled. I really want to go on with this project, and I need to know how to fix my steering coils.

The wires broke off and I can't find an end to pull them, and make them long again.... Any solutions to this problem?

I would do it, but... If I screw it up, or decide to keep it....... Nah, I wouldn't keep it, but I don't think my parents would really like me doing work on someone elses PCB..... They don't like it when I do it on my own!

So, any help for my screwed up steering coil problem?

Try a baggie tie (wire kind) to tie your motor clip down.

What I did was thread it through one of the holes in the back, making sure I left some hanging out.

I then straightened out the clippy part of the motor clip.

After that, I looped the baggie tie over the clippy part and when it was properly tight for the motor to work, wrapped the end around the part hanging out from before.
It may be possible to get the body over the clippy part, i don't know, as bodies vary.

This ain't the kind of setup you'll get many disassemblies out of. setting up and leaving it would be the thing to shoot for here, unless you don't mind replacing the baggie tie.

It's crude but it only requires a baggie tie (or even a piece of cat wire, come to think of it) you get the idea.

If it is copper wire. well everywere just take apart a large DC motor and there you have it some wire for steering coils.

Try An ELECTRONICS STORE, Maplins in the UK, Farnell.com, Radio Shack, RS.

Etc.

The wire from DC motor would most likely be too thick.
Maybe minature Relays would be a better alternative, break 'em open n get the wire.

You dont really want to go too far away from the original thickness wire in the steering coils.

Once your a good solderer, it's REAL easy to solder them. I eventually learned to do it, because I was ALWAYS inside of my car. If you are a modder, you have to learn to cope with the steering wires breaking and what not.

well steering wires suck.

my suggestion? got anything motorized around your house that sucks? we all have an old walkman right? well check it out, the little motors like that have tons of that hair-thin wire on it!
