Bootster controller not controlling standard cars
Tomy Booster 27MHz controller does not control a standard 27MHz car.
Microsizer 27MHz controller does not control a 27MHz Bootster car.
anyone....anyone.....bluler....
(and for those who already talked about this in another thread, I did do a search, with lots of threads...but no title looked right)

hmm ive seen different brands of clones that do not control eachother. also i dont think a 27mhz zipzap is compatable with a 27mhz bit.

A 49 mhz zip zap and a 49 mhz microsizer work on the same controller except forward and reverse or switched.

TX2 clock frequency resistor
If you change this resistor, it will operate other RC's that you otherwise couldnt...
It is usually a 200 or 220k between pins 11 and 12 on the TX chip in most controllers. I used a 100k pot with a 150k resistor (gives a range from 150k to 250k).
Different settings would run Z-cars, Thor clones, Thunderfighter clones, even Radioshack trucks!.
You're still sending 27Mhz, but the timing of the data pulses is changed.
There is also a resistor in the car, but its much easier to mod the controller (bigger parts)
This will work on most cars that use the "TX2" in the controllers, the Radioshack trucks ("Hacksaw") and "striker" (buggy) also have this chip, sometimes marked "TS2", but it still works!
This should help more:

Oh, the booster may use a 27.000 Mhz frequency crystal, (usually it's 27.145 Mhz) but that usually isnt too far off to work.

Your a good man FMZPLAYER1, thanks.
Yes, after opening the booster controller, I did notice it was 27.000 (vs. the 27.145).
do you know what the 4ch Multiband controller uses for a 27MHz freq. (meaning the .000 or .145) ???

I don't know what the 4ch multiband has for 27Mhz, but either 27.000 or 27.145 (doesn't usually matter to these cars).
They will react to a transmitter that is up to 1 or 2Mhz off!. In fact I put a 286 clock crystal (28.322Mhz) into a clone Tx , and I had to get a little closer to the car, but it still worked. --The Z-car had the least reaction to this, since it was just that little bit further away in Mhz. (Z-cars use the 27.000Mhz)
I have also modified some of my cars to run at 28, 30, 46, and 55 Mhz, using scavenged crystals from computer board junk.

Is the booster you are testing the Tomy AM set? Both my AM set and Fairlady boosters use a TX6C chip in the TX. Thought that was why they didn't control the std. Bits. The TX6C is different. I don't have a working link to the datasheet. Shoot me an e-mail if you would like it in PDF format. twolff69@hotmail.com
Thanks for the info and for the link to the data sheet.

thanks for the pic kwikbb.
The booster I am testing is the Tomy AM set.
I don't think it's the chip, but the frequency. I understand there is a play range.

interesting... this stuff is way beyond me.... cuz i failed the waves unit in physics last year, but does this mean when i get my AM set, i can race it against my 27 MHz celica with no problems?
