the reason 27mhz cars tend to get poor range and
49 and 57mhz get good range is because higher frequency waves can travel further on the same amount of power.
kinda like an fm radio station (91.3mhz) usually gets 30miles or so of range and an am radio station (1430mhz) gets 100miles of range.

solder or cut?
How do most of you remove your crip cap? Does it need to be soldered or can i just clip it close to the solder with wire cutters or a fingernail clipper? I hate soldering, never see me completing a dual cell

I just used a pair of cutters and cut the CC of at the board. No solder iron needed.

If you dont like the way the PCB looks after you clip the CC off, you can always go back and desolder the remaining leads. Clipping the CC off is a good choice for someone that does not solder or is just lazy like me.

I get 40+ feet inside. This is in my unfinished bonus room, thus not that much interference.

I just pulled my 27 MHz bit out of the box, and I am getting 3-5 feet max.... The reception is so bad, that if I stand up with the controller in my hands and the bit at my feet, I lose reception. I have to lay down with my arms outstretched towards the car....and after about 3 feet, it starts to get jerky and will not turn.
I pulled my controller apart, and unfortunately, I do not see a cripple capacitor. There isn't on the car's board either.
Batteries are brand new...
Is this normal? I am very disapointed.

fm and AM waves travel differently..has nothing to do with the freq. number. also notice AM is mono.. fm is stereo. (well fm can be mono but is a waste of resources)
