Small Question

I probably already know the answer to this but I just want to verify before I try it.. I'm planning on doing the laymens mod to triple-cell my zips, and therefore will have 3.6V from the batteries.. this means I get a 3.6V (or 4V) charger then hook it up to the charging pad on the controller, then do whatever to figure out the charge time; then I'm set? And these battery packs or whatever you can buy from Radioshack.. they all come with those 2 wires that you need to solder onto the 2 wires from the charging station right? And no matter how many batteries (or what type) the charger uses, as long as it puts out ~3.6V to the batteries, it will work fine?

Just verifying, I don't want to screw anything up

Alright, here's the deal...

NiCad and NiMH batteries will fully charge to about 15%-20% higher than their rated voltage...A 1.2v rated battery fully charged will read ~1.4v

So, a 3.6v pack + 20% = ~4.3v (fully charged).

Now, if you're going to use an AC/DC adapter then 4.5v will likely do the job (since there's no variance for weakening batteries)

If you're going to rig a battery charger, I would recommend 6.0v (that's either 4-Alkalines or 5-NiMH batts) that way you've got some leeway if any of the batteries are weaker than others.
