I would really like to have cold hard facts. The rummors and stuff are helpful too though, just not nearly as much as facts.

Siress, there are some people over at www.yourmicro.com who are running the Spy batteries in their mrs4's. It might be worthwhile asking over there.

I bought a Novak Spy Li-Ion battery to use in my DTM X4 BUT found that it was too heavy and bulky. It didn't fit right in my X4 b/c of the drive shaft that runs right down the middle.
A guy at my LHS pointed me in the direction of other Li-Ion batteries that many people use for their "slow-flyer" airplanes. I bought of these small battery packs (7.4v, 700 mah) and it runs GREAT (and FOREVER) in my X4. To charge this battery, I use the charger that came with the Novak Spy Li-Ion battery and have no problems.
I honestly don't know about the "punch" of Li-Ions v. NiCads or NiMH's but Li-Ions seem to be rated with more voltage than NiCAD or NiMH.
With this battery, and a Team Orion Elite Modified motor, my X4 SCREAMS!
I'm not too sure of the layout of the DTM SP, but because it doesn't have the 4WD shaft down the middle of the car that my X4 has, perhaps the Novak Spy Li-Ion will work in your SP.

Thanks. I decided to stay away from the Li-ions for now. To dangrous in the process it is at now. I think that the ONLY charger for them for RC use is the Novak one, but I do not want the Spy battery. I found that I can get the perfect li-ion batteries for $12 but there is still the charger issue. I may see if I can get just the charger from Novak some time, but for now I will stick with my trusty NiMH cells.

Somebody at the Yourmicro.com forum left this LINK to relatively cheap Li-Ions and a Li-Ion Charger.

I just wanted to inform anybody on this site that might be considering using the Novak Spy Li-Ion batteries for their X4 or SP, those batteries have been recalled by Team Novak. Here's a LINK to their recall notice.
Apparently, some guy was recharging the Spy batteries and it exploded into flames and could've burned his house to the ground. Here's a LINK to the tinyrc.com sister site where this problem was explained in detail.
