3.0 motor question

I just got a 3.0 motor for my z car (the zcar upgrade kit...) and I noticed that the car goes a lot faster backwards than forwards.

Does any one know how to fix that?

Cool

I noticed the exact same thing. Haven't found a way to fix it yet.

it's because it's easier for the motor to pull the car than to push it. the 3.0 doesn't have a lot of torque, so it's going to go alot faster in reverse. you don't notice it as much with a slower motor that has more torque.

Shouldn't make a difference in top speed. Might for acceleration due to weight shifting back, but once it gets going, it shoudn't matter which wheels are being driven. Maybe the PCB on the Z-cars doesn't send as much power to the forward speed as compared to reverse.

yes the acceleration is different......but still my 3.0 is as slow as the stock while going forward (even after 10ft) while going in reverse it has a far better acceleration and has supperior top speed....is there any way I could reverse poles of the motor? or any other way to fix it?

I don't think weight shift has anything to do with why it's faster in reverse. RWD almost always accelerates better due to the weight transfer to the rear wheels helping traction

I think it sounds like your motor timing is off.

I've heard it's possible to adjust, but I haven't done it on any this size. So I'm actually no help. I've only done it with larger motors.

If you can't adjust it on your motor, maybe you can modify the chassis to let you install the motor backwards. Or mound the body backward.

Its hardly worth modifying the chasis for just one motor.....
