electro magnets
i don't know many things about electronic but one thing i remember from my phisics classes was that an electro magnet works far way better with a mettalic core in it. A thing that i noticed in the magnets that come with the bits is that they're very powerful and the electromagnates are kind of weak.. i think that putting a metallic core in the electromagnetes would increase the steering, but in the other way it could cause the magnet to attach to the center of the core and be stuck in that side... well at least this idea could work if someone looses the center magnet, replacing it with some metallic lokalike object and with the metallic cores in the electro magnets should do the trick. any comments?

I guess it would work, but I don't know if you would see any huge results.

Isn't the problem with a metal core is that the magnet would try to attract to one side if one was bigger or something?

Brilliant Idea! My 3cell bit doesn't like turning!
The metal that you are talking about is SOFT IRON, it is used in electromagnets because it does not hold any magnetism once the electromagnet is turned off, and it makes the field much stronger.
I beleive soft iron may b heavy tho.
Some other metals may b worth trying, but if they do hold magnetism after the electromagnet is turned off, then there goes ur steering!
Try it out tho by all means!
Im sure u can get a thin rod of soft iron, n i spose it woulnt weigh 2 much in small amouts!
keep us posted!
