Where 2 purchase Rare earth magnet?

where do I get this magnet?

Can u really notice the difference with it?

I heard it can be purchased @ radioshack (part#64-1895) but I went down to my local RS and they said they didn't have it!?

Is this the correct part #?

Is it actually called the Rare Earth Magnet???

Please help!

yes its called rare earth magnets. and yes that is the correct part number. your better off searching in the store for it then asking the sales associate.

That's what I thought too, but I asked for assistance first hoping I could just get it and go. I've asked the radioshack employee's many question b4 (none of which they had any answers to at all!)

You've got questions? We've got answers!

Ok, to all those out there who may not already know....

You've got about a 90% chance that the poor Radio Shack employee knows next to NILL when confronted with an actual question.

How do they expect to push their goods when they don't know anything ABOUT said goods????

Sorry but I had a nice friendly run in with another one earlier this evening.

But when all else fails, visual aids DO help!!

I picked up my first rare earth magnets while in Iowa. When I asked the employee (he was about 20 I'd guess) where they were, he gave me a lecture about how Radio Shack was an ELECTRONICS store and how magnets were anti-electronic. Then my dad piped up from the back of the store "They're right here dude!" That shut up the poor F'er. To show my gratitude, I while he rang me up (without giving me the receipt or a sack, I might add) I rubbed my new "anti-electronic" all over his cash register monitor.

LOL, yeah that'll teach him! But you need to run it over the display of cell phones, or better yet, any video tapes or computer equipment they have.

I must have been lucky, I pointed out the item number for the guy behind the register and hes like we just got 6 pairs in right here...and he picked them up right away. Guy obviously knew what he was doing...I like it when you find a store where the employees know their ish. Its rare, but nice.

This is what you are looking for... The clerks don't have a clue what's for sale in the store until the customer shows them.

Like my 130 motor magnets, I can get any magnet any shape size, of neodymium...

however you should all know that the silver (its realy nickle) coated magnets inside the bit char G (the real ones) are ALREADY rare earth, neodymium... but I can still get a stronger grade if its required... and I can likely go a higher grade than my motor magnets cuz this is a non-heat build up location, so I dont need any heat tolerances at all. The greyish black ones people are putting in are actualy WEAKER then neodymium high grade magnets can be... although I guess its possible its just a cheap ol ferrite with nickle plating too... but its pretty strong for a ferrite.

I could probly get one twice as strong... maybe even 3x as strong.. but unlikely, it would have to be bigger/thicker.. maybe I could get a THINNER magnet, cut some plastic away on that thing for a further tie rod stroke, and we can make a tighter steering mod

David (TinyRC) has already asked me to see if I can get some.. I have yet to send in the request for a quote... I will likely have to buy some were in the 10,000 range! so a Pre-Order, or david also helping with the initial fees might be required... although I could talk them down to a quarter of that if buyers dont mind paying more.....

so I now ask what are they worth to you if they are only 1.5 to 2x as strong as the ones in the car already?

If this was someting that required 3 or 4 per car... it would be more efficient to sell, but selling just 1 lil ol magnet to a buyer is kinda silly... I would do it in a flash if I could put a 10 magnet minimum per purchase... I guess they could make good toys cuz they are VERY adictive finger toy.. while reading chat etc.. -- and this is a more universal shape (micro cylinder) so I could just bulk them off on ebay.... they DO sell good on ebay lots of Neodymium there, but not the exact right size yet... and along comes another idea, what if I got them a bit bigger diameter.. so we have to open the hole bigger, so its all that much stronger? naw.. probly too hard for newbies although if your going in after the magnet your likely not a newbie .

These magnets could probly be put on the motor to up the torque a bit too... might lose top end though...

Since they are Neo, I guess we can call this the "Neo Navigation Mod"

The stock magnets are pretty strong, but the RE magnets are stronger still, and what's more, they're lighter.

I agree that the stock magnets are strong, I got the RS magnets, but didn't see much of a difference. There is a difference, but I guess I was expecting the steering to be able to turn the tires at a dead stop. (no dice)
The original magnet is very strong, and is happily living on my fridge holding up a fairly heavy calender!
