Question Mixing/Matching Gears?

I'm new to the game and was wondering what the overall thoughts are regarding mixing diff axels & transfer gears. I was thinking perhaps if you were to have red axel gears and a green transfer gear you could in theory acheive the advantages of acceleration with more torque. Is this type of inter-color marraige practical or is it more complicated? thanks

Will not work...the mesh will be either too tight or too loose.

I'm working on this

I have been working on making this happen.

It is of course a completely custom gearbox.

The biggest problem is getting the gear mesh right, but then again I have come up with a way or two to set the gear mesh (probally not the lightest way but it will work).
