Torque versus Speed....
Ok I don't know if this has been addressed before (knowing me it probably has) but is there anyone who has done a comparison of torque and speed ratios between different engines? And I'm not talking just strictly OEM I'm talking also the TinyRC engines and the DKS engines. If anyone has or knows of a website who has please please post it I would very much like to see that.

as speed goes up, torque goes down.
pretty simple.

oh whew, i thought this was going to be one of those "which is better" threads that u sometimes see on car forums..and it turns out to be a 10page thread
i dont care about tourqe on bits, the motors get up to full speed in about 2ft ;/

well duh I know that! *sigh* ok maybe I wasn't clear enough...I'd like to see maybe a chart that compares the torque and max speed of each engine for comparing equivalent engines of different makes. (if that makes any sense) I don't know maybe I just need to go to bed ...or maybe the evil pixies have finally taken over my brain!!!! OH NO OH NO!!!!

And I'm not asking which engine is better or whatever I would just be interested in seeing the technical specs (I guess you could say) of output of some different brands of engines.

S x T = Y
Y is constant.
If speed is 10 units and torque is 1 unit, then Y is 10.
If speed is 5 units then torque will be Y/5 units, aka 2
etc etc
1.0 is 1/3 as fast and 3 times as torquey as a 3.0

Couldn't the 3.0 have more torque to it that the 1.0, though? You are assuming the only difference being the revs, but that might not be the case. I think what he's asking is whether there are certain brands that are better than others. Like 2 companies may make a 2.6 (both maxing at 26,000 RPM, obviously), but one 2.6 has more torque to it that the other 2.6. Is that the case, or are they all identical (something I doubt)?

Subie driver: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!! Thank you!!! That's exactly what I had in mind!
Psydeath: Yeah I kinda would like to have a chart like that but comparing other engines as well not just the DKS ones.

Not necessarily...the speed of the motor versus the torque is determined by how the motor is wound inside the casing. A certain amount of voltage and amperage can only be converted into a predetermined amount of mechanical energy, and the only variable that would make the torque times speed value higher with a higher revolution motor would be slightly increased efficiency from more balanced motor magnets, or the increased drag coefficient from the extra distance the motor turns. However, these differences are negligable, as would be the difference in speed between a 35,000 rpm motor and a 35,500 rpm motor.
Generally, torque times revolutions will be constant. With different motor manufacturers, this might not hold as true, due to different materials being used for manufacturing. If each motor uses the exact same case and magnets, and only winds their spindles differently, X is constant.
I hope I'm not being too abstract.
