markpa,

I've done a few of these PCB board swaps for myself and other people. The main reason to do the swap is that the original Zip Zap board just doesn't provide the motor with enough power to run 3.0 - 3.8 speeds effectively. I mostly do the swap with original Tomy Bit Char-g or Hobbico Microsizers boards because some of the clones suffer from the same problems as the Zip Zaps. But, If I was going to pick a clone board to do the swap, I'd pick the board from a Shen Qi Wei car. I read about how fast the Shen Qi Wei's were on this forum, but being a die hard Bit Char-g man, I didn't believe it. Then, I bought one for $15 off of ebay and now it's one of my favorite cars. It's got alot of speed, especially with the 3.8 motor. If you have any other questions, I'll try to help.

Kyle

The ZipZap controller will still work (I know for sure) if the pcb is from a microsizer. I've had hit and miss kinda luck with the clones I have. Funny think of the clones that do not work with the zz controller, work just fine with the microsizer controller ON THE SAME FREQ as ZZ!
