Just Got My First Bit! BUT...
I just got my first Bit today, but the darn thing doesn't work. I assembled it per the instructions, and charged it, but then the thing doesn't move.
What I know:
* Using a multi-meter, I know the battery has full charge (reading 1.38V).
* Batteries in my transmitter are new alkalines (1.55V each per the multimeter).
* motor seems to work per testing with a continuity tester.
* I assembled it per the instructions. Actually, because I can't read Japanese, I used the online MicroSizers instructions. I didn't think there should be any differences. Am I wrong?
I just wanted to see if anybody had any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong before I send it back and have to wait another week to play. Thanks, in advance, for any help.

What doesn't it do?? Does it not respond to any of the buttons on the transmitter? Does it turn left and right? Do you have it turned on?? I know, stupid question but you'll never know......

Check which way you inserted the engine; there is a right way and a wrong way to put it in. There is a small rectangular contact on the end of it; with the 4 marks around the outside at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, the contact should be at 5 o'clock.
If you put it in upside-down, it may not work.

Nothing
It doesn't do anything - no forward, reverse, or steering. I've taken it apart and put it back together a few times now, this last time being sure to orient the motor as PikaOhki described, a couple of others too. The transmitter is definately on. It aparently charges, as the charge light comes on and the multi-meter shows the battery to have full charge afterwards.
Thanks for the suggestions. Anymore ideas? I starting to think that I'm pretty much screwed on this one.

I think you're screwed. Even if the motor is incorretly mounted, the front wheels should respond to the left and right buttons.

Parts Cars
Yeah, I think I have a parts car on my hands. Since I first posted, I ran to the local hobby shop and picked up an MS. Why didn't I think to look there sooner. All of the local Targets, Toys 'R' Us' and Kay-Bs were out. The hobby shop had tons - and for the same price - and a full ine of accessories. The MS went together without a hitch. I thought I'd be cooler than all of my friends and have an actual Bit. Well I'm up and running now anyways.
I think I might use the Bit for some "projects," if I can. I still need to look and see if the problem is a bad connection under the PCB. Do they make a Bit Boat yet? At anyrate, I can use the Bit parts for the MS.
Does anyone know if the Tomy controllers will work with LXX cars and/or vice-versa?

You COULD try returning the bit, and you know, getting your money back. Don't just accept that you got a lemon and lose your money.

Yeah, but I like to try to experiment with things. I suppose however that I could use a cheap clone for messing around with the bit boat idea – one that actually works, if any of the local retailers that keep advertising them ever actually get them in stock. The Bit has been boxed up and will be going back for an exchange. Thanks to everyone that gave me suggestions to try to get it running though. The MicroSizer, though not the car I originally wanted, is keeping me entertained for now.
