motor options

I ran a ORION eliet in my Micro RS4 without needing a different bolt on attachment to replace the stock motor.

This abc car has the same motor. Can I put my ORION in this car chasis???? Let me know.

thanks!

the elite modified will not fit in the dtm sp, but the elite stock will fit because of the flat can design. i use the stock rs4 micro motor and smoked my friend's micro that had an elite modified.

crap. I assume you have tried it? Seems that It would...

I guess the can would rub against the ground? Can a bigger diameter tire raise the motor can off the ground?

How about the rocket racer chasis? Since my Micro rs4 can take the ORION elite without any mods, I thought that anything that would also take a 280 motor would be a direct bolt on also?

What small car like this may work with the ORION elite?

yes it will. you will need to dremel down the chassis to make clearance for the motor. I have one with this set-up. It's aight. Nothing out of this world. Stick with the 180, and use 7 cells.

Use a 180 with 7 cells? Correct me if I'm wrong..but I could swear that my ORION ELITE spanked my Micro's 180 motor (when I switched it out) ..why would it not be the same in this aplication?

I mean it makes sense that this would be a great "bolt on" (maybe with some slight dremel doing) for this car.

Looking for your advice and input. thanks

To tell you the truth, this is not my original idea. It someone else's. with 6 cells, the motor didn't go any faster than the 180. I'm thinking since the RS4 is belt driven, it requires more torque, which the TO probably has a lot of.

180 with 7 cells is pretty fast. a very noticeable difference compared to 6 cells.

the orion elite mod will fit on the original abc dtm, not the sp. since the elite mod has more power you need to change your gear ratio. i was running a 17 tooth pinion with it with the smallest spur abc sold. it is faster than the 180 but the 180 is still super fast with the 17 tooth pinion. the coreless has awesome efficiency in these cars so you have long run times.

Ummmm, YEAH if your talking about a SLOWER than SLOW stock ABC 180 motor.

If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time trying to wedge that Orion motor in. Instead I would slap down 20 bucks on a GPM Type R 180 motor!! That is what I use and they are awsome!!!

Let's see...........

First off I would try Tiny here at this site

next...

I would try GPM's web site [edited by tinyrc: that link was pointing to a rip-off US site who registered that domain; the correct URL is http://www.gpmracing.com.hk - that other site is a total rip off]

I have not looked lately, but I believe they sell it as a hop-up motor for the HPI Micro RS4.

If nothing else, contact be direct (use the link to contact the moderator ME) and I will give you the address of a respected Hobby dealer in Hong Kong. I do not want to post his e-mail publicly so as to avoid getting spamed.

feathercraft1, let us know if you want one of these motors, that Hobby Etc. site is a total rip off, their GPM prices are insanely inflated.
