NIMH vs NICAD & 4 cell battery holder charging?
Iv got a few nice adjustable chargers (graupner Duo plus II & C&E pitt-bull ) and I just bought a few AA 4 cell holders with which Id like to use to charge 4 AA NIMH or NICAD batteries with.
What charge rate should I use for 4 & cut-off voltage?
I also considered the ni-cads also since they have better punch and handle the abuse of mulitipal charge cycles a day.
Anyt comments welcome..
Mike

Anyone?
OK, lets make this more simple..
What kind (brand & mah) of AA's are the best for a Mini-z which would get recharged many times a day, and how many amps should I peak charge all 4 batteries together at?
Thanks
Mike

Make sure the batt holder is setup in series and that you put the batteries in, in series.
NiMH & NiCads are 1.2v, then 4x1.2v = 4.8v
So, set your charger up for 4.8v
For Fast Charge:
Set the amperage = to the rating of the batteries (ie; if the batts are 1700mAH, set the amp charge rate the same)...1 hour later you've got charged batts
Notes:
- Since the batts are loose, they're not 'matched' to each other, so depending on the 'monitoring' capabilities of the charger, you're likely to get uneven charging
- MONITOR THE HEAT!!! coming off the batteries while you're charging them...If they get excessively hot, use a lower amperage rate to charge them.

Thanks Namuna!!
So I should charge 1700 mah batteries at 1.7 amps, to charge them in one hour?
What AA's are the best? Who makes them?
Thanks again!
Mike

IMO, Maha (aka PowerEX) is the current champ for AAs. You can get them in 1800mAH capacity.
Yes, if you charge at the rate of the batteries capacity it'll take 1-hour to charge
