My first bullet clone ;)
I stopped by Walgreens on my way into work this morning. They had a small selection of clone cars. Some in clear plastic bullet containers, others in blister-packs hanging on pegs. The ones in clear plastic bullets are on sale for $12.99, the ones in blister-packs are $9.99 (but I'm not sure if they're clones or something else - the bodies aren't the same).
I got a bullet clone. It's a red RX-7. The car had ugly stickers all over it so the first order of business was to peel them all off. The quality isn't quite up to the quality of the Bit Char-G/Microsizers cars. There's some flash from the plastic molds on many of the pieces and the quality of the plastic seems cheaper as well. The car came fully assembled, when I took the body off, it appeared that it is compatible with the Microsizers/Bit Char-G cars. I put a Microsizer Subaru WRX body on it and it fit perfectly.
It has a 1.0 motor and very sticky tires. Once charged, it ran well on the very low pile carpeting in my office. Since the remote control has a telescoping antenna, it has a nice range of 10-12 feet. I had originally planned to use this as a parts car, but I like it quite a bit and may keep it as-is for a while. The only problem so far is that there's sticker-goo all over the car, but I can clean that off eventually.
In the store, they had the following body-styles: Subaru WRX, Mazda RX-7, and the Honda Accord Wagon (2nd ugliest body style next to the Toyota bB). I really wanted a Nissan Skyline, but no luck there.

That's great! I hope that I get that lucky. I ordered three clones in bullet cases for Christmas presents before I realized that they weren't Char-g Bits. I then ordered a complete set of 4 Tomy cars. They are supposed to all arrive on Friday, so we will compare and see. They are Christmas presents, but I suppose that I should open them and test so that I am sure I don't give junk away. I just hope I don't enjoy testing so much that I wear them out. LOL. I am happy for you.

"Bullet" means the car comes in a plastic bullet type container, like Shens and Panthers.
The best way to get sticker goo and crap off of things is to use vegetable oil....no kidding. Rub some on, and it dissolves the goo.

Funny how you buy a couple of cheap clones to modify, but they perform so well you don't want to mess with them! I am waiting for a set of four LXX clones, and a couple of genuine "japan market" Bits from toyeast.com. I should get them next week sometime. This will be my first experience with the "real thing". The best price for US market microsizers that I could find was $34.99 at KayBee toys. (I know Tower Hobbies has them for $29.99, but factor in the shipping and.........)

My Target (Princeton, NJ) doesn't carry them, or any clones either. Don't have any hobbytown stores in my neck of the woods either. All I can say is, if these guys are undercutting Tower Hobbies' price on the MicroSizers, I can't see how they are making any money since Hobbico and Tower Hobbies are very closely related.....
