Light wiring

I have 4 LEDs and two 3V cells (and a switch)

When I wired it up (in different ways, with both one or two batteries, etc) either the headlights or the tail lights could go on. not both.

Once i got both to go on but then the headlamps would get dimmer until theyre completely off.

Anybody know how the proper circuit goes?

Are you trying to have them all on at the same time or just the headlights on when going forwards, and the brake lights on in reverse?

lights

you had the
polarities
(+ and -)
reversed when
only one pair would light
as for the dimming
some leds require more than 3v
especially blue and white
try another battery
or just use headlights
i use yellow and red and
thats usually ok
good luck

Well, they didn't really fit in my car, but I basically made 2 circuits (one for the head and one for the tail lights).

try putting putty under the light to block the light from escaping through the bottom

Just wire all the LED's in parallel. In other words + to +, - to -.

If the lights are mounted behind the headlight (i.e not cut through the bodyshell) do you have to remove any paint from the inside of the BIT or does it woek fine without??

You should remove the paint first. On some of the light kits that are available for sale, it comes with some paint remover and q-tips so that you can take the paint off. Most of the newer Bit bodies have the paint on the underside of the body. It's a different story when the paint is on the outside.

I think I tried it parallel and that's when my headlamps dimmed out.

It will: The red LEDs will suck the voltage down to their level, leaving a low voltage for the whites. Stick a series resistor on the pair of red LEDs (maybe you get away with one resistor for 2 LEDS, maybe you'll need 1 each) and then try again

You may have to cut-and-try the values to get it to work correctly and not suck the voltage down, while still retaining brightness.
