my antenna fell off

while i was checking my pcb board or whatever i was checking my antenna to see if it was doing alright( dont ask, its just me). so i checked and raised the board and when i checked it it popped off. i got my friend to scolder it back on but it came off. so im not sure if i scolder it again if it will work or not because the place where you are supposed to put it is all burnt and covered but still visible. any comments?

Your friend probably used an iron that was too hot. Try using one that is around 15 watts, and don't leave the iron on longer than you need to melt the solder. If the trace is still attached to the board, you should be ok. Just make sure you clean off all the excess solder before you redo it. Solder braid or a solder sucker will work fine. You can get them at Radio Shack. If the pad where the antenna is attached to the board has been burnt off, you'll have to find a way to get the antenna back on the board, this usually involves removing the coating on the trace and soldering directly to that.
