If you're using solid core wire, then one strand will do. If you have braided or twisted wire, solder them all. Ultimately, just one strand will work, but the more you attach the stronger it will be, and you will probably get better range too. So solder as much as will fit.

hi one more question i know sum1 said that i could use a wire for an atenna from a phone, but i wanna know where can i get a really good antenna and if they sell them a radio shack
|

If ur talking about the antenna on the car, no, you can't buy an antenna for it at radio shack...well, you could by picking up a roll of wire, but that's the same as the cat5 or phone stuff.
The big boost in range for me was the transmitter antenna, which CAN be purchased at RS (don't know the part number, but I got the 17 3/4 inch one). It is a replacement telescoping antenna for corldess phones.
The only drawback is that it now sticks out past the plastic flip open do hickey, so I had to cut a piece out.
Anyone know any other suppliers for telescoping antennas? I'm looking fo probable a 9 section which would fit int eh same space as the OEM.
