My review of the Toyeast LED light kit...

Ordered the LED headlight kit about a week ago and got it in today. I know...blasphemy to pay more for stuff I could have gotten at Radio Shack, but I must say I'm impressed! The instructions are car-specific and could not be any better. All the materials seem to be good quality, and there's plenty left over for mistakes. Even comes with an extra battery. And, it has a switch to turn them on and off.

I have yet to install it , I'm waiting on a new body after a painting "incident".

So if you want LED headlights but aren't too good with this stuff, this is the way to go. And for $9.90, it's not that bad of a price either.

Finally put my weight bench to some good use.

What is their shipping?

Well, I received a sample Fiber Optic pack today and I want to try to make a light mod with it, I'll save a LED or two because I can link a bunch of fibers to one LED

.

Now, if Radioshack has some high intensity whites.

Well, if you're ordering just one thing it can seem high. I ordered the light kit, some course rails and a tire set and shipping was like $6.

BTW, I'd like to ask a favor of you.

Could you scan the instruction sheets? Or explain to me some details on assembling the battery holder. I've been researching on it lately and so far all I know is that you get some sort of a contact plates wide enough to slide in the lithium batt.

If you look at the picture, you'll see the two flat black things. These are actually heat-shrink type rubber. You put the battery and the two copper contacts in there and melt that bish together.

My scanner isn't hooked up, so I took a pic (quite unsuccessfully).

I agree about the headlight kit from toyeast.
It has everything you need and the instructions are very easy to understand.

I did it for my Gloria Bit.

You can see the result as my avatar image.

I was thinking that it would be a nice idea to add red backlights also. But I haven't try it just yet.

Yes i too have done it for my skyline and was very impressed with the results. It's nice, because they give you spares if you mess up on some of the parts, and extra amount of wires.
Here are my comments
I suggest soldering everything, and not taking the easy out of wrapping the wires

Also stripping the wires can be a real pain, but i found a method that works well with a wire that thin. just take an exacto knife and rest the wire on your finger and take the blade to to it and scrap off the rubber outer coating all the way around and then just pull off the remains at the end. I had a problem of when trying to strip them a different way, the entire piece would break off, not just the rubber coating.

and the led's they use are BRIGHT!!. Much better than any ones that I could find at my local RS, and also only 3mm, when my RS had mostly 5mm, too big.

now that I know how to do it i may just get some really bright LED's from www.eled.com and just get a bunch for my other bit/friends bits

here is my final outcome. I decided not to make holes where my lights are, so i just scraped off teh paint to make clear lenses.

Yes...definitely solder. Really the damn wire is SO thin it breaks half the time if you try to wrap it tight. For stripping, No conventional wire strippers will work. I used a little different method though. I rested the wire on something flat and just barely "tapped" the wire with my exacto blade. Rotate the wire slightly, repeat. That way you kind of etch a line in the rubber, then I just grabbed with my nail and pulled the entire rubber coating off the stripped area. It's alot easier than trying to "peel" it off with the exacto.

Nice pics though...can't wait to get my new body in and throw 'em on for pics.

BTW I just got me an iRacer

. Looks pretty darn cool. Can't wait to try it out on a flat surface. The space in there is too small to fit a light mod in I think, but I'd like to try, paint scrapping needed of course since they paint the lights, pretty good paint job on the lights I might add.
