lxx cripple cap

i have a lxx skyline, and i was wondering

1) does it have a cripple cap
2) where is it and how do i get rid of it?

ok, well it doesnt seem to have one, i found a site with instructions on how to remove the capacitor and it aint there, looks like im gonna have to do the antenna mod cause i only get about 6ft range.....

All the new ones seem to have a cripple capacitor built into the controller to limit your range, as to allow more bits to race in a small space without interfering with eachothers radio frequencies. The capicitor is there - I can assure you - since you only have six feet range. Do this - take the PCB out of your controller like you did before, this time, flip it over and look on the back. You should see another capacitor in same general area as where QFM says the capacitor is for the mod - except apparently they moved it to the back of the controller in a new revision, to confuse the modding types like you and I, and the rest of the bit modding world. I think the capacitor is labeled "22" on the peice itself. Just snip it off, and you'll have an extra 10 feet range.

I'd like to give you a picture, but unfortunately I don't have a digital camera. I could try to borrow one from someone, perhaps someone at college, so I can get you a pic. It could also be that there has been even another revision, making the capictor even harder to find? The capacitor itself on my controller was about the quarter of the size of an advil, and about the same color. It was on the back, and was labeled "22". That's all I can give you for now - Until I get my hands on a picture... I'm sorry man. I'll keep looking - because I myself am always looking for ways to make my bit go farther.

I bought my bit about three weeks ago, so I doubt they've modified the controllers much since then. I'm not sure about the specifics between the different frequencies and circuitry on the controllers - that also might have something to do with it. Try following the antenna connection as it goes into your PCB. Follow the trail of connections, and see if there are any capicitors on there. If you find any, snip it off. If it breaks - solder it back on The capicitors usually look like, at least in the pictures I've seen and the one I snipped off, like they've been added almost after the PCB was produced - so the soldering job is "human" and unmachine-like, if you catch my drift.

But now you have pics to look at. Check your transmitter against the pics and see if anything looks different. If something looks different and has a different color solder, then you may have the cripple capacitor there.

BTW, those aren't my mods. That's just the page I used to find the crip cap in my Bit Char-G.

Damn man, I think you might be on the forefront of a new controller revision or something. I wonder why no one else has responded?

Posted this last friday after buy the SE Pennzoil GTR. No Cap on the controller that i could find.

Any ideas or suggestions? Yes i know my camera sucks, working on getting better pics.
