Painting a ZipZap
I bought the Fast & Furious kit with the yellow Civic and I want to try my hand at re-painting it. Here's my strategy. Let me know if I'm track.

Soak the car overnight in Castrol SuperClean. Remove the paint with a toothbrush.
Mask the windows with scotch tape.
Spraypaint the car with model paint. Two or three light coats, lots of drying time. I don't have an airbrush, but figure those little cans of spraypaint at the hobby store should do the trick?
Apply decals...either the $20 fancy "wet" decals or some ink jet printer labels.
Apply a gloss finish. Again, several light coats.
Does that sound reasonable?

Castrol Superclean, eh? PineSol will do it too.
Heads up: the body surface plastic may be "gummy" after it comes out of the solvent, so be extremely gentle with it as you remove straggling paint with a toothbrush or Q-Tip. I guess what I'm saying here is let the solvent do the work.

Is it absolutely necessary to remove the old paint or can I just give it a quick soap wash?

taking off the paint
hehe... this is silly but it will work
Linuxx01 MOD - Paint mod
1. go to a 99 cent store and buy a big nail posish remover
2.Find a jar
3. Pour the Remover in the jar and put in the body of the zz
4. Let it sit for a couple of minutes maybe 20 or more
5. GEt a scraping tool of your choice i used a Q-tip but im sure a fine tip pen will do the trick
You dont have to sand anything which is good beacuse your car dosent mess up.
Have fun pass my mod around =0)

In the post http://tinyrc.com/forums/showthread....t=nail+polish, GryphicRacing said nail polish remover etched the windows and recommended the Castrol. You didn't have any problems with that?
My goal is to find the cheapest, easiest, and safest way to remove the paint.

You can Tape the windows :
But it made the windows kinda foggy but im not sure if it was the nail polish or the crayon (don't ask) i also sanded it down and got the windows by mistake so you might wanna try it or not.

rodzilla, did you try the castol? I've had my supra sitting in some for more than 1 night now and the original paint is barely coming off. I don't want to risk the nail polish if it will ruin the windows, and i'm itchin to try out the airbrush kit I bought.
