got my parts from Qon, handles wayyyyyyyyy better!
went with the:
mazda 787b
all front aluminum plates
all aluminum wheels
aluminum rear hubs
added my atomic ball diff, atomic hardest h-plate, went up to 7t pinion,
removed the gyro and wow! only traction rolled once with this setup
I bought the atomic dampener, but I did not install it yet.
there is still a little hopping in the back so the only thing I have to tweek around with is the dampener and the tires. It seems like the carpet doesn't like the stock 10s in the rear, seems like the tires are too sticky, and I still don't notice a difference with p/n 15s. you just don't get the same feeling as the rcp track. Something harder would be nice but then I think it would drift too much.
I think my shop is getting more tires in soon and its gong to be a bit for me to find time to drill a hole and install the dampener, so ill keep in touch. I will get it down.

why tape over the h plate? if your looking to keep it a slick surface, kyosho has teflon tape that would be soo much better.
it seems to work for you but i am not convinced a piece of packing tape with twine fillaments does anything other than padding the surface. you simply don't have the surface adheasion to make it an intergal part of the plate effecting it's tension.
i guess i just need more information as to what it does or how it works for you. i've heard people glue lexan/styrene to plates before and those theories never panned out on mini-zracer. it's like the atomic cf front knuckle arm reinforcement plates for the mr-02. there is no way you could glue them to the chassis so that the bonded strength yeilded any improvement unless there is a very specific glue that fused the materials which has never been brought to lite.

when I had the kyosho ball diff
I had it set too tight (fat and skinny shims) when I went to (skinny and skinny) it acted better, but that was with my old set up with the gyro. I needed to get out of the Kyosho diff. I know if I mess with the shims a few more times I'll end up breaking it. dnano ball diffs seem to work at much lighter settings than mini z. when I was cranking on the atomic diff, it seem to stay light so I backed it off. It was fine like that on the HT track. I'll mess around with it more when I get the dampener going.
