The ZipZaps cars from eBay, Etc. do not have extra motors or gears. You only get enough stuff for one car, no extra parts. For extra motors you need one of the booster kits or you might want to take advantage of monkeyballers offer of a pinion gear and fix what you have.

The SE series of ZipZaps have semi proportional speed and steering control that is a big advantage over the one speed and full right/left steering on the Transformers. SE's also have 6 selectable control frequencies so you can race up to 6 cars at a time. I don't have any early ZipZaps (non SE's) or Pixars but I think they are about the same as Transformers.

Just out of nosiness, how did you break the pinion gear? It's pretty well protected from normal abuse.

As far as collecting hair they are all about the same and all are a PITA to de-fur.

Yeah, that's why it's taking so long for me to get something. I'm having to wait for auctions as the bin stuff is too much and there's not a lot of used/new stuff on there with extra gears and motors.

I talked to monkey on im, but I told him I'm just gonna grab something off ebay. It looks like the extra gears and stuff won't add to the price much. I want to get 2+ cars off ebay so cat can play with one car while the other is charging.

Is there an easy way to figure out if the cars on ebay are se series? Some of them list they have the 6 freq in the description, but a lot of people just throw them on ebay with minimal information. I can't blame them, I still don't know that much either.

I smashed in the teeth on the gear by using pliers to take it out. Oops. =(

ZipZaps SE's have a controller that resembles an upside down "U" with a small steering wheel to the left and a small upside down "U" shaped trigger to control speed in the center of the larger U. I think all of the other ZipZaps have a square controller with buttons to control steering and forward / reverse. On the front of the package there is a SE logo just under the ZipZaps logo.

If you can find them (ask the seller), get ZipZaps SE's with a stock number of approximately 600-7048 or higher with a production code (located on the bottom of the package) of 02A04 or higher. These have an improved steering system with less front wheel chatter. I don't have a complete list of the newer SE's with the improver steering but the 2 Aston Martin cars, the Ford GT's, the 2003 Mustang GT, a red Corvette and a orange Mustang that I have all seem to be OK. The production code seems to be the better indicator. The front wheel chatter does not really hurt anything but it is annoying. Your cat might like it.

never seen the SE before, those look cool, my zip zap was a pixar one, but i got replacement bodies on clearance, and then i got that one car that i took apart from the flea market with more extra bodies.

you can also get the knock offs from walgreens they are 3 for $11, the cat would still chase them.

I'll try the ones from walgreens those will probably tide her over. I will be surprised if they are as good as the rs ones. Plus I'm addicted to the rs zip zaps now, I always go on ebay looking for good auctions.

Walgreens looks like they have changed the knock off brand, these dont say mega toys on the controller, and the freq stickers are different sizes and shapes, and the colors on the controller are different.
Also the antenna is alot longer then any I have ever seen on the cars.
last note, walgreens now is charging $5.99 for them, which is better then the $19.99 RS is doing for zip zaps.

The knock offs still can be run by the zip zap controllers, which are better feeling then the knock off ones.
